VULNERABLE CHILDREN – CLOTHING & ESSENTIAL ITEMS PROGRAM




Description
We source children’s clothing, nappies, wipes, linen & blankets, cots, prams, car seats and much more from public and sponsor donations.
These essential items are distributed to local support agency case workers to support vulnerable families support their children. and ensuring that the support we provide is integrated into a total support package for recipients.
Activities and Special Requirements
Activities: Sorting items, stock management, assembling requested items, interacting with case workers.
Special Requirements: Familiarity with children’s clothing with an eye to putting together balanced packages of clothing. Ability to communicate well with people. Ability to work unsupervised, problem solve and supply information. Understand the need for, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Location and Access
Toukley Uniting Church, 7 Summerside Street, Toukley
2 mins from bus stop near Toukley Commonwealth Bank, Main Street. Off street parking is available.
Access: We have disabled ramp access to our premises; however, we only have ambulatory toilet facilities.
Our Volunteer Team
The program is 100% volunteer-based; we work together as a team on a roster basis. As such we are flexible with availability. Our preference is for volunteers to be available weekly or fortnightly for continuity.
We welcome both people who would like to be team workers, and also people with other key skills such as community and welfare agency networking, sourcing items from commercial outlets, management skills …
Hours
Currently open Mondays 10 am-12 noon, and Thursdays 12 noon — 2 pm.
Occasional donation drive activities. After donation drives we have working bees to sort, classify and store the items.
